Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Internet Solitaire ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website at internetsolitaire.com (the "Service").
Information We Collect
Information You Do Not Provide
No account is required to play. You can use the Service entirely without identifying yourself.
Account Information (Optional)
You may optionally create an account to save your game statistics across devices. If you do, we collect:
- Your email address (used to identify your account and for account-related communications)
- A password (stored as a one-way hash — we cannot read it)
- Your game statistics (games played, wins, best times, streaks) synced to our servers
Account creation is entirely optional. If you do not create an account, your statistics remain stored locally in your browser only (see below).
Analytics Data (With Your Consent Only)
If you consent to analytics, we collect the following through Google Analytics:
- Pages visited and time spent
- Game interactions (new game, undo, hint usage, win/loss)
- Device type, browser type, and operating system
- Approximate geographic location (country/region level, derived from anonymized IP)
- Referral source (how you found the site)
We do not collect analytics without your explicit consent. You can accept, decline, or change your preference at any time on the Manage Preferences page.
Game Statistics
If you are not logged in, your game statistics are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
If you create an account, your statistics are additionally synced to our servers so they are available across devices. You can delete your account at any time, which permanently removes your synced statistics from our servers.
Technical Data
When your browser connects to our servers, standard web server logs may capture your IP address, request timestamp, and page requested. These logs are used for security and performance monitoring, are retained for a short period, and are not linked to any personal profile.
How We Use Your Information
We use account data to:
- Authenticate you and maintain your session
- Sync your game statistics across devices
- Send transactional emails (e.g., password reset) — we do not send marketing email
We use analytics data (with consent) to:
- Understand which features players find most useful
- Diagnose and fix bugs

We do not use any data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

We use cookies and similar browser storage. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.
In summary:
- Functional storage (always active): Stores your consent preference and game statistics locally in your browser. No data is sent to us.
- Analytics cookies (only with consent): Google Analytics cookies (
_ga,_gid) used to measure usage patterns. These are only set after you accept.

- Analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months, then automatically deleted.
- Local storage data (game stats, consent preference) remains on your device until you clear it manually or through the Manage Preferences page.
